| Description: | Mathieu Ngirumpatse (born 1939) was president of the Mouvement républicain national pour la démocratie et le développement (MRND). He and his co-accused Édouard Karemera exercised effective control over the Interahamwe, the youth wing of the MRND. Mathieu was sentenced to life imprisonment on 21 December 2011, for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes including rape and sexual violence. |
