| Description: | Theoneste Bagosora (born 16 August 1941) in Gisenyi, Rwanda, was responsible for establishing paramilitary "self-defense" units, the Interahamwe that would operate in every commune in the country and distributing arms and machetes throughout the country. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on 18, December 2008 by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR). The sentence was reduced to 35 years imprisonment on appeal on 14 December 2011. |
