These materials from Ibuka cover various topics ranging from the Rwandan history to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, and its aftermath, and were donated by Ibuka as a contribution to the Genocide Archive of Rwanda collections. These photographs feature killing tools and victims' belongings such as ID cards, clothes and more. These objects are found in the Genocide Archive of Rwanda's physical archive at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, and on display in other memorials all over the country.  

ABSTRACT  

 

 

In 2003, PFI started a program about the importance of adopting a guilty plea at Gacaca and asking for forgiveness, dedicated to sensitizing prisoners who participated in the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The program also targeted genocide survivors, encouraging them to forgive those who participated in the killings of their beloved ones.  

This is a picture of members of Igiti cy'Umuvumu Association found in Nyamata Sector, Bugesera District, Eastern Province. It was created by both genocide survivors and perpetrators who have confessed their crimes, in order to start together the journey of unity and reconciliation.
