Prior to 1994, the country of Rwanda was little known outside the limited circle of African studies scholars. A reference to Rwanda in a conversation, such as a small land locked country with few natural resources and no strategic importance, was likely to be met with blank stares. The 1994 genocide, however, has bestowed on Rwanda a new notoriety.  

This is an anonymous letter sent to the commander of UNAMIR, in which there is a lot about the hostility of some soldiers from the same region as President Habyarimana vis-à-vis the implementation of the Peace Agreement, and the Machiavellian plan Habyarimana despite his good speech encouraging the population.

Un article publié par le journal " Libération" évoquant un rapport du HCR qui accuse le Front Patriotique Rwandais (FPR) de « tueries » contre des hutus, et mentionnant que les témoignages cités dans l’enquête ont été recueillis pour la plupart dans des camps où sont réfugiés les auteurs du génocide, selon les témoignages des ONG présentes. An article published by the newspaper "Liberation" evoking a UNHCR report that accuses the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) of "killings" against Hutu, and stating that, according to testimonies from NGOs around, the evidence cited in the survey were collected mostly in camps where refugees are the perpetrators of genocide.
